Matt - Day 30 - plyo?

So I felt like running today but in order to get in some plyo I did a modification.  Ended up running over to a nearby school and doing a stair workout for the plyo - probably around 20 mins worth and then ran up a few hills and back to the house.  overall was about an hour so I think I'm in good shape. I really liked mixing it up and I need the running for the mudder.  Plus I'm hecka sore from yesterday!

happy new year!

Matt Day 29 chest back balance

Back home.  This workout kicked my ass. My pull ups just aren't there probably from the lack of climbing.  The highlight was 12 4-ball pushups. Most other moves were mediocre but I was dead at end.  I can't wait to dig in on the 2nd phase.

I didn't take the quiz but I qualified for worlds toughest mudder last year.  Top 5% so yeah I'm ready :). Yeah mn is in July they moved dates from last year.  I'll confirm on that one soon. I might just sign up for the season pass so I can go to any of them. Still think u should come out for feb!

Matt day 26 - 28

26 rest
27 balance and power
28 rest

Finished up my vacation workouts.  I missed yoga yesterday because of the drive will try to catch up on it.

Day 29 - Phase II - Chest + Back + Balance + Ab Ripper

F'n yeah thats more like it...

Awhh I hurt sooo good from this workout. I am glad to now be in the 2nd Strength Phase. This workout was a brutal one but still so good.  I'm still up in New Hampshire so I didn't have my equipment so had to do some modifications. I missed my 4 med. balls but the 2 I received for Xmas worked well for most of the moves. I also miss the pull up bar especially for this workout but the Total Gym at the hardest/highest setting was a good alternative modification. I think using the Total Gym was more intense then the bands but not quite up to the full pull up bar.

I didn't have a chance to write down the numbers but I was D.O.A. at the end of this workout.  I could barrly carry my med. balls back to the house. I am still sore in writing this but its one of those good soreness that indicates that I gave it 100%.

The ab ripper was its usual hard self at the end of this workout...I know haven't been following the nutrition as much this time but I hope I can see more of 6pac at the end of this round. We'll see... Speaking of that I still have some of the supplements I got the first time left are you or have you started using this again? Thinking I might start with this phase once I get back to the apt.

PS I got a 87 on the R U ready Tough Mudder Quiz... Seams like I'm ready to go ;) You?

John Day 28 - Total Balance & Power

Kinda fitting to do this right around new years - out with the old (most of it) and in with the new (Yes tomorrow (30th December) we start the new phase...

This one was a good one... I did do some modifications in that I still don't have dumbbells up here but I did get 2 12lb medicine balls from my sister and brother and law so I used those for both the med. ball moves and for weights when I could made for a good (although not full 100%) workout.  But considering that its a holiday week I'm good with doing the best I can with what I've got up here and finding the time when I can...No numbers again but will start that when I'm back in my apt again.

In response to your other questions/comments ---

     - Yeah you should definitely bring Joe into the blog that would be nice to have 3 again...just so long as he is more committed then urban ;).

    - Ugh I feel for your 9hr Drive I feel like I'm going to have a similar length back to NJ on the first will all the snow that is hitting the New England area here...not looking forward to it but I do have new tires so thats good.

    - Yes, I do golf....? Only a couple times a year but do have clubs extra...why? ;)

    - I'm in for the Mudder in the spring in MN - allows me to visit family as well... However which one are you planning on doing? The Tough Mudder itself has moved to July 20/21? That is by no stretch of the imagination still spring and the Spartan Races only go as close as Chicago? Is there another alternative your looking at? (Or did you look at last years which was in may?)  I'm thinking I'll be doing another marathon mid-summer but if I know i can work this into the training or as a second comp. of the summer. But yeah i'm up for it.

John Day 27 - Yoga

So making up a bit for lost time so these are all out of order this week.  But yesterday was a good Yoga day. This one was an easy one to do on the road although I have to say I did have a bit of extra effort in keeping the balance think this was due to the new space and different floor along with the slight nip in the air in my sisters exercise room.  I could probably do it by memory now but having the DVD going is good to keep me at a steady pace I've noticed I like to rush it a bit when I look back at the DVD.

Matt day 25 total body

Another good workout.  I got a. 30 lb kettle bell for Xmas and incorporated it on a few moves.  And FYI after p90 I'm gonna try for a kettle bell routine.  Bring it!

Yeah. - Annie's bro Joe is getting into it. He bough weights yesterday and is getting vids too.  He might join up on the blog to keep motivated .  I don't really have a normal routine on this sometimes before work, sometimes in afternoon during work and other times afterwork we could definitely try a meet up.  When I got after work it's usually 5 - 530 west coast.  Let's try it next week.  Get urban too! Haha.  We are on next phases starting Sunday right? Crazy.

Happy holidays.  We've got a 9 hr drive to ad tomorrow.  :-(

Hey do u golf??  Also mn mudder in spring - urban is in. What say u?

Day 25/26 Travel and Total Body on Total Body Gym

So Wednesday we decided that morning that we'd better head to New Hampshire a day early... So things got moved around quickly.  Needless to say did not get a workout in before leaving and after around 7hr of driving ahead of the storm and then a really good heavy meal the workout did not happen again...yeah ok so i slightly slacked there.

Thursday. - Yes this is suppose to be Yoga but I felt like I should make up the Total body from wednesday instead. So this one is at my sister's place in New Hampshire. Don't have all my standard equipment so had to vary some of the moves... No pull up bars or band yet --- really should get those but they do have a "total gym" the one with Chuck Norris as the spokes person. I have to say it was a good alternative to the bands. I was able to make variations on all the moves that were working the same parts with as much intensity if not more. The draw back being though that the "stabilizing" balancing part was removed from the work out but I feel as if I got as much of a pump.

Only had a limited time so going to put the ab with the Yoga tomorrow.

The were going to look at my Apt after we left so I'm not sure... I'll see when I get back next Tuesday... but I did move most my stuff out of the danger zone and cover most everything else in tarps so I'm not too worried...

I hope your have a wonderful holiday season as well. I am kinda jealous that you have a workout partner.  What time do you do your workouts anyways? Just asking because I usually do them kind of late... and if your doing yours at the gym right after work we could maybe do a google meet up workout at some point...

Day 22/23/24 - NYC/Rest/Plyoside in City of Brotherly Love

So as you are doing as well my workouts have now gone to traveling. As such I wasn't able to squeeze one in on Sunday or Monday but I think being the "monster" and playing with my two young cousins was a good workout in its self for Monday and I got a good aerobic workout walking around NYC with my Mom on Sunday for the Broadway play and seeing some of the other sites...

So on Tuesday morning while others were busy with other stuff (walking dog extra) I was able to get the plyoside workout in. It worked pretty well. Only issue with space was that it has a very low ceiling (you'd have to crouch Matt) so couldn't really do any of the "jumping" moves but the one wall is full glass and the floor is tile so was able to do the box jumps and keep my form better (I think)... It was a good workout for what it was.

Matt Day 24 - plyocide

Good workout. Lungs are feeling good.  Annie's bro joined again. I was able to push hard on some of the more active moves.

Brought.

Matt Day 23 - rest

Played 18.  Shot a 92 - not bad.

Matt - Day 22 x2 core

So I was exerciser and trainer today.  Annie's bro worked out with me.  We did everything without the video and used the bands.  Good workout nothing too crazy on the numbers - I wrote them down but again - typing on iPad.

Golfing tomorrow :-). I hope ur apartment is ok.  Happy Holidays!

Day 21 - X2 Balance & Power - JK

So since I missed this workout yesterday I did it today instead. It was a good workout...felt a little weird doing it while my mom is still here. Although have a large workout space now with the area cleared out under the water damaged part of the roof..lol ohy... its going to be interesting this next week doing the workouts here and in Philly and in New Hampshire. Didn't write down the numbers but was pretty good workout.

I still say that it was unfair to compare me to Urban...jesh.. ;)  This should catch me up now.

Day 20 - Rest/Mover's workout....

Ok this part of the reason I wasn't able to blog was what happend the evening of the last day into this morning... There was a somewhat intense storm with some strong winds. This caused the "repair" that they were doing to the roof to come off and caused more of the roof to come off and now I have a speckled ceiling with MAJOR water spots...ughhh!

As a precaution I moved all of my furniture out of the way... including the workout equipment....still finding some of that back... ;) But was a good workout to move all the furniture kinda quick...did make it a long night and was late for work (called in to let them know would be in later)... And that afternoon my mom arrived for the holidays. So moved some of the furniture again to have areas for her...

Day 19 - Yoga - JK

Again the Ying-Yang thing is good but bad at the same time. Nothing to special about it. Went fine agin the animal were again the worst/best. Although I think I am getting a bit better at them...

Day 18 Body & Ab Ripper - JK

Felt good and re-charge to do this workout after taking the day completely of the day before and it showed in the numbers all improved. Also took the time to change out the dumbbells to be able to go heavier for the initial moves. I am jealous of you working at the gym and be able to select which ever you want...thinking of getting myself the switchable dumbbells for myself for X-mas.

Ok here are the #'s

And the Ab ripper was the ab - killer minimal number of rests during moves so that felt really good.

Day 17 - Rest - JK

Not much to say on this one - Took the day off as was in the office late again...

Day 16 - Plyocide - JK

Ok Ok - Almsot a week but not quite... ;)  And calling me out doing an "Urban" ouch that hurt... Aren't you suppose to be nice this time of year...

Ok - The plyocide Work out it was good started it kinda of late because of work this week but went well. Still think its one of the workouts that I think I can do the best at worked hard but still good till the end...

Matt Day 21 yoga

Did yoga from memory and Im pretty sure I got it all - was right around an hour. Felt great. Definitely needed it.

Almost a week behind Kang!

Matt Day 20 balance and power

Full workout with bands.  I wrote down the numbers but typing on my iPad is too slow.  Lots of mods to make this work I added a few moves to get more out of the bands  because i don't wnt to lose any strength this week.  Also upped the cardio portion by increasing leg activity.

Where u at Kang?  Don't be an urban!!

Matt Day 19 rest

8.5 hrs in the car driving to sacremendi.  I probably should have stretched some when we got here but I took the whole day off.  Thought I broke my thumb when Molly broke loose on a busy road and I lunged for the leash.  Puffed up bigger than a golf ball within 20 secs.  Luckily swelling down and decent movement - able to continue workouts with bands.

Matt day 18 x2 core

Another gym workout.  Pushed really hard and went faster this time. Improvement on many numbers but I don't have them with me to post.  Next week of workouts at Annie's parents place with bands might supplement with a few runs.

Matt - Day 17 PlyoLIFE

This will always be my least favorite workout!  I didn't track the numbers because I started using the workout sheets and they don't have one for plyo or yoga.  I think they just expect you to do everything and also I wouldn't have time to write it down anyway because I'm sucking wind.  I was pretty close to everything on this one - a few mods on the bigger jump moves otherwise straight through.

Heading out for xmas vacation on Thursday morning. Bringing my dvds and a limited set of gear - should be able to make some modifications to keep it going.

You signing up for the mudder?

Matt - Day 16 X2 Core

Sweaty workout -  did this one at home - I think I move a little slower in the gym because it seemed like I was racing to keep up on this.   Increased numbers again.

Day 15 - X2 Core

Ok back to the program ;) - This was a good workout kept the numbers about the same but felt good about the moves.  Don't know maybe because of the intensity but it seems to be getting sweatier each week... Couldn't do the last ball move on the ball because it was sweaty so did it without the medicine ball.

Here are the numbers in vertical cuz it is much easier to read as you have been doing...

Still bringing it...

Day 14 "Balance & Power"

Ok I kinda went AWOL on this... Went 3hrs of bordering and top roping instead of the workout... I was planning on maybe doing it afterwards but was pretty tired from the time at the gym... It went well had a good time at the gym was pretty "pumped" and tired by the end...

John Day 13 - Day of Rest

So normally I would have taken the day off with going to the climbing gym but instead went to the company xmas party... Was really good 8 course italian meal but it was good...but took the whole night.

John Day 12 - Yoga

Ok yeah been bad about putting these up... maybe that will be my new years resolution. Yeah i also was watching a movie while doing this workout.  It was the intense relaxing again... The "animal" are still the hardest..

Matt - Day 14 yoga

Well I may have cheated on this a bit.  I did yoga while watching a movie.  I actually think I have the whole thing memorized since I think it's the most repeated video in the program.  I may not have done full time on each stretch though.  I was kinda toast from playing 18 at Torrey Pines in the morning too.  In any case, felt great and I know I need it.  I could really feel that I've lost a little on Pigeon and Frog.

2 weeks in! where you at?

brought.

Matt - Day 13 Balance + Power

Another great workout - big numbers compared to last week.  I worked out in the gym again and discovered another benefit.  You workout harder with people around - like its a competition.  You gotta try it - do they have weights at your climbing gym?

the data:

Matt - Day 12 Rest

Did about 90 mins of foam rolling - still have some major sore spots in the legs.  I'm gonna end up way off this week because I'm moving balance and power to Friday and Yoga to Saturday.  Don't worry it will all get done and get done HARD.

Matt - Pre Program Pics

Okay so these are actually from a week into the program but close enough.

Matt - Day 11 Total Body + Ab Ripper X2

Killer workout.  I did it at the QC gym again.  I gotta say I really like this. I am able to push a lot harder with the weights.  I was absolutely dripping after this one and I usually consider this an easier workout.  I couldn't remember if the mule kick burpee had a climber (leg) component to it.  I added on but may have been confusing that move with asylum - gotta check into it - cuz its HARD!

Ab ripper was tough again but better than the first week. I even did all 10 both directions on the tornado.

By the numbers - overall improved almost across the board.  Last week was definitely warm-up!

John Day 11 - Full Body and Ab Ripper

Ok - didn't improve much by the numbers but felt much better about this week. What last week was struggling and just getting the move and numbers this week was changed by much more strength and adherence to form.   The crunches are still f'n hard but getting closer to good form on that. I have also decided with my pull up in the doorway I basically have the 3 ways to do the pull up - the wide grip just doesn't work well in it.

#'s - 1.12@15 2.10 3.12 4.10@15 5.12@15 6.12@15 7.10 8.5 9.5 10.8@15 11.8@15 12.10@15

Ab Ripper - Ughh this was hard yet fun..such a good ache left now...nothing too special... it was good.

John Day 10 - Rest Day

So I rested by going to the climbing gym and doing 2 1/2 hrs of bordering....?.... LOL Well maybe not lot of rest but its stress relieving climbing the walls.  Hadn't been there in awhile so was good - still have the strength just lost some of the finesse again...

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

Matt - Day 10 plyo

I hate plyo! But I love it.

Was a funny workout. Annie went shopping and Sawyer started crying halfway so I did this in 2 chunks. Easier that way but still worked me.  I only did a few on the big jump moves cuz my knee is still iffy. Everything else was straight.

Already 10 days in.  Feels like old times.

Matt - Day 9 rest

So anytime I get off schedule I'm just gonna blame it on the baby.  Haha.  Got home a little late and Annie needed a break so switched my off day.

Monday, December 10, 2012

John - Day 9 Plyoside

I do like this one... It was intense - had to go shirtless halfway through and was still sweating alot. Pushed myself hard and definitely did better then last week.  Felt more stable in the moves and was able to keep up for most of the time. Was fairly winded by the end kept going but will be honest and in the very last move was doing pushups and not plyo's but it was still a very good workout.

Matt - day 8 x2 core

Felt good today. Way better workout than last week. Improvement across the board on just about everything.  It's on now - ready to go hard.

My bad on he pics I tried to take them and the camera died. Too many baby pics. Will get them up soon.

And yeah 4 weeks on this sounds good. I'm planning on bringing my gear for xmas at Annie's parents.  Boom.

Numbers:

1. 14
2. 10 RL
3. 5 RL
4. 10 RL mod

13. 12 @12
14. 16
15. 8
16. 7 RL
17. 8 mod

Matt - Day 7 yoga

I kinda wimped out on this - knee was still off so I did about half and a whole lot of foam rolling.  Feels really good to be be back on the roller. I gotta keep it going even when we aren't on program cuz its awesome.

Matt - Day 6 - rest

Another switcharoo. Took the day off. I kinda messed up my knee with balance and power and needed another day.

John Day 8 - X-2 Core

X-2 Core - Ahh the second week - The week "warm-up" was good. This was a good workout - went hard at it trying to complete the element then try to "reserve" some to the end... so the numbers at the beginning are good but was so drained by the end but it felt good to just let it all out. One standout was the Med Ball Dreya Roll was able to do it without "cheating" by having the legs spread out a little bit... felt good in fully doing that move. Not the hardest move but a good improvement.

As always the numbers;

1.15 2.10 3.5 4.10 5.12 6.12 7.12 8.12 9.15 10.9. 11.r/4-l/3 12.15 13.15 14.18 15.5 16.7 17.4

So I was looking at the calendar and thinking with the holidays and everything that we stick with the foundation for the full 4 weeks - thus switching to round 2 on the 30th? Your thoughts?

-iKang - PS no pic yet...? Loose some of the conditioning...?

John Day 7 - Balance & Power

Ahhh another workout that has come back to me.  Didn't get to write about it that night but it went well nothing particularly good or bad. Here are the numbers;

1.11 2.12 3.30 4.12 5.R/L 6.8 7.8 8.26 9.18 10.10 11.20 12.16 13.R/L8@15 14.R/L10 15.R/L8.8

John Day 6 - Rest

Yeah so by no intention by myself I changed the days up too -  Had to stay late at work (on a Friday...ugghh!) so didn't feel like doing much of a workout that night so took it as the rest day.

Not much else to say...

Friday, December 7, 2012

Matt - Day 5 - Balance & Power

Yep - I'm switching around a few days.  There is a yoga class on Friday at QC so I switched days 5&6 to match.  I get a little bored doing the yoga dvd every week so thought I'd try to to start.  Probably not as many push-ups but its always good.

Back to the workout.  This went pretty well, but back to back full body lift days is a little intense.  My abs were sore too, I'm sure I was at less than max reps throughout.  I had forgotten some of these moves but after this refresh I think I'll hit up the gym and bigger weights next week.

I printed out the workout sheets finally (never did last time around) - wow does it make it easier to track.

1. 10 2. 8x RL 3. 30 @12,20 4. 8 5. 8 RL 6. 5 RL 7. 8 8. 14@12 9. 8 10. 6 11. 8 12. 12 13. 6@20 RL 14. 4 RL 15. 5@12 RL 16. 10 17. 4 RL 18. 15 19. 4@12 RL  20. 3@12 RL 21. 10

John Day 5 Yoga

It is so good to be back to these workouts I have to say. The Insanity was a good change but this is soo much better in my opinion.  Was another relaxing and yet intense workout. The pigeon is both my favorite and the worst move of this workout... But otherwise it went well a good workout.   I need to bring up my flexibility and balance control. Thats why this is the warm-up week though ;)

Day 4 - Full Body + Abs

First - Opps yeah you were right I just didn't post the ploy day since I had forgotten this blog web-address that day my mistake :) you had and have the days right and I should be posting right as well now...

I am a bit jealous of being able to do this at a gym with all those weights... I have the variations of the weights with my home set but I have to replace the plates to change which I don't like to stop and do during the middle of the workout(s).  So for this "warm-up" week I kept it at 15 for the whole session it was light for some of the moves but good for others I think I'll increase to 17.5 for next week thought.  Yeah very sweaty time as well.  I need to work on my pull-ups again those number fell a bit but hopefully I can bring them up fairly quickly again.  Its kinda weird to say but I did miss the soreness and good fatigue after these workouts...There are some muscles I kinda forgot about again.

For completeness here are the numbers; (15 lb weight on all items)

1.R/L20 2.10 3.12 4.R10 5.R12 6.L15 7.9 8.5 9.5 10.8 11.R/L8 12.8
13.R/L12 14.4 15.10 16.L8 17.10 18.12 19.10 20.3 21.4 22.8 23.R/L10 24.15

The ab workout went ok... I was only doing about 1/2 the whole time and took breaks in pretty much all the workouts but I gave it my all and know it will only improve..

Matt Day 4 - Total Body & Ab Ripper

Whew!  just finished.

Did the workout in the QC gym today.  I printed out all the workout sheets so I didn't need to video.  I think my pacing was pretty good  - totally dripping by the end.  The nice thing about using the gym is that I had more options on the dumbbells.  I used up to 35s on a few of the moves whereas I max at 20 at home.  Maybe I just need bigger weight for home.  I'd say pretty close to where I was in 3rd or 4th week the first time around.  This stuff is my bread and butter though.

The ab ripper was intense.  I haven't focused on abs in a while and I really struggled on the tornado - only did 5 each way.  Everything else was full though my form was pretty weak on the phelon twists.

This tough mudder is gonna be EZ.

brought.

Matt Day 3 - RR

About 60 mins of foam rolling and other stretches.  They all hurt and felt great.  Needed it too since I was walking around like an old man all day after the plyo disaster.  Looking forward to the rest of the week.   Love being back on program.

Matt Day 2 - plyo?

So I thought day 2 was plyo? Are we already off?

Bit of a disaster on the workout.  I brought my laptop and DVD to the gym at work. I had some technical difficulties but after nearly smashing my laptop against the wall I decided to do it from memory.  Needless to say I forgot a few things.  20 mins in (after the warm up) I got a mega cramp and both my hammers almost seized up!  Haha guess I'm not quite where I left off.  I made sure to go about 45 mins but just did an ab workout to finish.  Oops.  That's why the first week is warm-up!

Urban where u at?

Round 2 Beginning Photos - JK

Here are the photos to start of Round 2. Start with perfection and just get better from there ;) Hehe.... And yes some of did participate in Movember...(actually since Hurricane Sandy)

Day 2 & 3 - Plyo & Rest & Recovery (OPPS)

Yeah I forgot to post the Plyo day on here - It was intense and a lot of sweating as well.  Went pretty well though I think that is my bread and butter as much as the full body is yours...

Welcome back my old friend Mr. Roller.... that was a good workout. I forgot how Yin-Yang this work out is both one of the most relaxing and at the same time one of the most intense.  The foam roller part was very good.  I know I received more out it then the first round starting out but could always use more for sure. Got those hot spots really deep.

But I did not have to be reminded the "animal" moves again... The frog and the pigeon... oh those are going to take awhile to keep working on and keep trying at...but the rest of the yoga and relaxing moves are good. Its always amazing even though I've done it multiple times before the change from the beginning to the end with the twist and squat moves.

How'd it go for you Matt? Did you have an intense relaxation too?

Yeah I said I'd put of the photos but rather then have it in this post I'll have it as its own post next.

Day 1 - JK - X2 Core

Yeah P90x2 Round 2 -  Yeah like I'd forget to start the program.... Ok I forgot the address for this blog... but I would not forget to start this round. So I posted it on the google plus the reps and counts. It was OK down from when I last left it but better then the first time when we started this the first time.

Yeah I'd agree kinda of need a week to just get back into it before really pushing it hard. I have to say thought I was impressed how I was able to keep up the whole time...but maybe part of that was knowing how long and how hard to push from the first round. I did notice a down turn in the minor muscle control not as stable as I was at the mid to end of the last round.

I will post pics with the day two post as well.

And Matt - it is brought!

Matt Day 1 - X2 CORE --------- Round 2 Begins!!!

Back at it!!  Played 18 this morning and Annie's family was here so I thought....maybe Kang forgot and we'd start tomorrow.  But then Kang sent me a text around 7 pm my time and I had to get moving.

I've been slacking a little bit on the workouts the best two weeks since the little man - Sawyer D was born 11 days ago.  He's pretty fun to sit and stare at.  So numbers were down today but I'm taking this week to easy back in.  Also - I'll get pics up soon.

The Final 90 PICS

Now I may be biased but DAMN looking good D! Hard work pays off!

Matt - Day 90 - FINAL

It's over!!  So i didn't actually workout on sat but I did Total Body on Sunday as a finale.  Felt great.  I'm going to randomly go back through the old workouts and track the numbers now that we are done.  I was off on a few for total body but other were EZ!  This was a pretty cool challenge and I can't wait for the next one.  Hopefully some people can blog all the way through!!! haha.  I will try to take some pics tonight and post.  maybe after I do the chest routine!!

Matt - Day 89

PAP Upper.  getting better on the push-ups part.  i still think they go too fast. I like the med-ball push-ups better than these moves - will be cool to go back to those after and see how they go.

Matt - Day 88

Yoga.  good stuff.

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Matt - Day 87

b-ball game!   Yeah - it's not p90 - but we only had 5 guys so I ran the whole time. Incidentally, we won by 20!  Woop woop!

Matt - Day 86

I'm all off this week.  I got home late and took a rest day.  My ankle/heel is still a little off so I'm postponing the PAP Lower another few days.

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Matt - Day 85

Yoga.  Felt good.  I'm gonna do a week straight of this and foam rolling when we finish.

Matt - Day 84

went running at the beach with Annie and Molly today.  Molly loved it - she ran circles around us!

John Day Seventy Eight thru Eighty Two

Ok so I can get back into the workouts again but not so easy to remember to do this... The workouts this week were ok but were mostly doing them late in the night after long days of work - F'n work - So looking at new places to work - CA sounds Sooo good!  Also having having the annoyance of not only working hard but for the project working "with/against" another architectural group with the number working on that end vs this end at least 6 to 1 (and those are only the ones I have meet know of....) Grrr....

Well the workouts have been marginal I try to push but late at night tank is running slow - should have maybe tried the first thing in the morning this week - but never knew when was going to be back home - I know not the best way to have the middle of the last round but this next week is looking much better!  Ok off to do the PAP upper - Took yesterday instead of today off.

Sorry bout not getting back into the Blog like I should have - you have the definite right to ridicule me ;)

Matt - Day 83

PAP Lower

Ankle still a little off so I didn't push on the jump moves.  I went up to 20s for rounds 2-4 on the step-up convict.  I also made it through the entire first round on the side-plank.

Dude - 1 week left!!  where you at?  And we gotta lock-in the next challenge.  Give me a buzz when you have time.

Matt - Day 82

PAP Upper

Switched up to rest the ankle one more day.  I tell ya - I can never keep up on the renegades, they just go really fast.  And even after 3 weeks I'm still not finishing the plank med-ball move.  Soo hard.  Would be cool to go back to first phase now and see what everything feels like.

Friday, April 27, 2012

Matt - Day 81

I took a took a real rest day today.  Tweaked an ankle at bball on weds and decided to give it another day.  Did an hour of foam rolling which felt amazing.

where you at Kang?  It's the final push!

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Matt - Day 80

woop woop! Day 80! I can't believe it. 10 days left of this monster!

Rest day today - but I have a bball game. the other team better be ready!

Matt - Day 79

PAP Upper

Moved up to 20s on all renegades and all hammer press moves.  I also did a little better on the plank and superman moves.  I'm close to holding the superman the whole time but I max the plank move at around 30 secs.  It's crazy!

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Matt - Day 78

PAP Lower

Finally improving a little on this.  did the step-up convicts with 20s for one round (12s on the rest).  Also made it through both sides of the plank in the first round.  Like 3/4 the rest of the time.

I was thinking insanity asylum and I'm pretty sure it has weights. I had done one of the workouts before but I will double check that it was asylum. Yeah - urban's post will be especially funny at the start when we are waaaaay ahead of him.

First bball game of the new season on weds.  can't wait to try out the new muscles!

Monday, April 23, 2012

John - Day Seventy Seven

PAPs Lower again - Ok felt weird doing this again the next day... Did about the same as the day before but not that much of a surprise I guess...lol. Oh the side x-move is no easier doing it two days in a row... but felt good still as I'm sure you know...

Ok - So was it Insanity or Insanity Asylum you were thinking of next? I can't find that either use the weights. I think both sound good though so either would be fun to try next..although I can't wait to see shawn's post starting out... oh those are going to be some good laughs...

John Day Seventy Six

Ok - Whew that was hard did the Lower early afternoon and the upper right before diner. Spreading them out was still hard...I know why its one per day ugh...Well it's done now it wasn't the best (expo. the upper but made it mostly through staying about the same amount of completion. Should be able to improve when not doing both in the same day... :) Was good to do once but not doing that again...was very tired at the end of the day...

John - Day Seventy-Five

Well I should have read the weather report before saying i'd do it the next day. Sunday was suppose to be a full day of rain. So I decided it would be better to switch it up and went for a longer - 8miles (No not in detroit ;) run on saturday. So wasn't a full rest but still good

Matt - Day 77

yoga.

haven't done this in a while but it felt great.  had a really good sweat going the first half and was better on the leg moves.

2 weeks left!

Friday, April 20, 2012

John- Day Seventy Four

Ok - There is a limit to what at least I can do was going to try to still do the PAP after 3 hrs of Bouldering at the Climbing gym - got half way through and just wasn't happening getting only about half the moves and NOT going to go down like that - So tomorrow morning going to re-Start and do both PAPs in the same day one morning one afternoon. Yeah I could move it back to Sunday but would rather do a long run that day so going to try this out...

Damn guess there are still limits - Have to get rid of those soon ;) Will look into the Insanity tonight and report during one of the PAPs tomorrow.

John Day Seventy-Three

Took it as a day of rest i guess - was at work till 9 so wasn't really that much rest - did do 1/2 hr of rolling very good...

John Day Seventy - Two

PAP Upper and Yoga - First the yoga - again not that bad almost relaxing. Still want improve on some of the moves but I feel that finally after how many times we've done it that I'm getting a smooth flow between moves.

The PAP Upper - again very intense but sooo good :) Loving both sessions still only at about 75% or so for most moves but improving going to miss this one...maybe one of the ones to keep during the 3 week interim?

Matt - Day 75

PAP Upper

Morning workout.  I'd like to do this more - but it's hard!!

Did better on the plank move, upped the weights on the hammer and was more consistent on reps for the renegade.

Kang - where you at?

Matt - Day 74

PAP Lower

I'm starting to get a handle on this one.  Still kills me but starting to get cleaner sets - even though I'm still only 3/4 of the way there on the side planks.

also foam rolled for an hour afterward.  soo good.

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Matt - Day 73

rest day.  needed it.

also - I did take 60 day pics but I never posted them.  I will get them on here soon.

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Matt - Day 72

PAP Upper

This thing kills!!  The push-up cycle is hard!  I feel like every day is cardio now.  I get about 1/2 the plank - med ball stands and about the same on superman.  The pull up section is a little easier, but wow, you never stop moving.

I'm planning to go climbing this afternoon, been a few weeks but I'm itching to go.

Oh - I think we are off a day on our counts. (weds should be Day 73 I think).

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

John - Day Seventy One

3 Hrs Rock-climbing - Well was suppose to do the PAP upper tonight but I went pretty hard on some new 5.10 routes tonight at the gym - So think I'm just going to do a double up as well with PAP-upper and then the Yoga - (Shouldn't be as bad as doing both PAPs together)

Will let you know how it goes tomorrow....

PS are we going to take "60" pics? Or did you? Could do it at 75... not quite the same or just wait till the full 90 what are you thinking?

John - Day Seventy

Pap Lower - Yeah side can't get through it all - again like the second set but the first set is just ok - Oh yeah it is definitely helping the running - the 11 miles I did on sunday wasn't that bad even though I haven't run close to that amount for quite awhile. This was a good workout again I think should be able to do a good amount soon.

Matt - Day 71

PAP Lower

I pushed harder this time out.  This thing is crazy --- and we have to do twice a week.  Plus the PAP upper seems like just as much cardio.  you should be all set for running after this.

I went light on the squat cross move again.  I just can't get to 8 - by the end for sure.   I also am still pretty far away on the side balance move.  maybe 20 secs the first time through and less each time after that.

Monday, April 16, 2012

Matt - Day 70

Another rest day.  Now I am back on schedule.

Will re-start with Lower tomorrow.  I have b-ball on weds from here on out and need to make sure its a day off.

So - I think we should take a break and then go for Insanity Asylum after this.   I gotta do something so I can keep using the med balls!  However, I might step it back a notch or two so I can pick up the climbing again.  It's getting to be summer and I have the urge for a big climbing trip.  you going to OHS reunion?  Maybe we can work in a trip to taylors falls or redwing?  Redwing has great sport routes -- taylors is trad./top rope but a more scenic area.

Matt - Day 69

Double up!!!   PAP Upper and Lower

Ok - so i didn't do the complete workouts, but I did 3x through for the lower cycles and 2x through each of the uppers.  I can tell you --- this is crazy.  I was dead by the end.

I also did an hour of foam rolling in the evening.  felt amazing.

Matt - Day 68

rest day.  was going to do yoga but i decided to do something crazy to get back on my preferred schedule for this phase.  see day 69

Matt D - Day 67

PAP Upper

I like this one.  Though I'm not a huge fan of towel pull-ups.  Yeah - the med ball stands are really hard.  I took multiple breaks.  I used 20lbs on the renegades - but that was too much and the grips on those are way too painful.  I also tried 20lbs on the hammer moves which ended up being way too much for the last round.  maybe in a few weeks.

Sunday, April 15, 2012

John Day - Sixty Nine

Rest day? - Well is suppose to be my rest day. I think I will do the recovery workout tonight but I did also run about 11 miles today. I kinda wanted to see just how much stamina and power the workouts were still providing. Turns out a lot... While I did walk for a small portion on the way back it was a good run overall.

Saturday, April 14, 2012

John Day Sixty - Eight

Pap Upper - Still liking this sequence better then the lower. I think its because its the area I need to work on more... The moves are hard but sooo good. The first sequence was good. I can't believe how hard the single medicine ball plank move is...couldn't keep flexed the whole time but was able to last 45 seconds each time a  few second break then keep it to the end. Still haven't been able to do 6 consistent plyo push ups but will keep at it! And I am not a super-man yet...but working on it and looking more like it then 68 days ago ;)  - Oh yeah kept the rows for the first set and the curls with 15 lbs weights - seem to be the right weight for now with just being able to keep up with it for the 4x if it becomes a bit easier might raise it up slightly.

Again SOOO glad my internet is back for good.

Also I am liking this "Phase" the first 1/2 of the lower is only decent but the other 3/4 of the workouts more then make up of it this is going to be a good last phase...but then what?... We should start talking about that if we have to buy a new workout system or what? You were thinking maybe the intensity workouts? or P90x?  I wish I could do the Tough Mudder but the cost of the airline tickets is taking it out of the picture at least for this year...

John - Day Sixty Seven

PAP Lower - Ok this was better the second time... A couple of reasons I think knowing the "sequence" helps in getting ready and getting through it and knowing how much is still to come. But again the first sequence while seems a bit better this time it is still the least challenging of all the sequences.

Second set was better then last week still a LOT of room for improvement but was able to hold the "x" for a bit longer and keep up a bit better.

John Day - Sixty Six

Yoga - Was nice to get the stretching and this back in wasn't much improvement with the relaxation week last week but was still good. Will improve with doing it every week for the next four weeks.

And YEAH!!! My internet is completely back! Finally got a new modem which is good seems to be working well. Thank god - that sucked really bad.

Thursday, April 12, 2012

Matt - Day 66

PAP Lower.

I like it.  I don't want to say I took it easy because I was dripping by the end, but I "eased" back into it.  I only used 12lb weights on the steppers.  I also only did 4x each leg on the move where you crouch down and touch your knee on the ball.  I also died on the side arm balance - I'll get that by the end though!

Overall - feels amazing to get back to the workouts.

Matt - Day 61- 65

Funny that we both had a break at the same time.   Annie and I took a road trip to Sedona and Grand Canyon. I brought the yoga video with the best intentions but ended up skipping it. We did do a lot of hiking, but also a lot of eating so I'm a little out of it now.  I'm gonna push this next phase for 4+ weeks though so I'm thinking it will end up like 95 days.

Matt - Day 60

Yoga. Easymode.  I'm still liking this one.

Ok - so I'll be catching up on my blogs here too.  Day 60 was my last workout before a 5 day break.  I took pics too which I will post later.

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

John - Day Sixty Five

PAP - Upper - Wasn't sure how this would go after the lower but I actually like all of it. Doesn't mean I could do all of it but it was a good couple of sets. Whew these are hard I like the intensity of going 4x and the sets were pretty good this time...The water break in the middle is soooo sweet! Ah nice... and the second set is good as well. Also I liked the warm up as well - glad the atlas was back was kinda missing that move...Used 20 lbs weights for the first two rounds but then changed to 15 for the rest of the workout will hopefully keep it up later. And also only did 6 towel pull ups during the last set - that was killer...

And oh yeah as an "extra" cool-down did a 5k run to begin the running program with shawn...whew this is going to be a busy summer lol...

So can I please be forgiven... I'm back now it won't happen again.

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

John Day Sixty-Four

PAP LOWER - OK First good to be back... Well our idea of listing the workouts might not work that well on the last phase since there aren't work sheets...But we could give a more defined critic? Not sure....

Well anyways I have mixed feeling about this workout - I love the new warm up feel a little silly but its nice to have the mix up...But you HAVE to tell me what Molly thinks of the Hydrant moves..does she join you? LOL...  Anyways the first "set" is ok...nothing to difficult or special not bad but not the best set either got the sweat up - used the 20 lbs dumbbells for the stair move for the first 3 rounds then nothing on the last round.. Ok the second "set" SO!!!! Much better!!! This workout is all about the second set - very difficult but will be fun to try to master by the end and then doing it 4x... whew - I was not able to hold the side x for the whole time like 20 on the first then 15 15 and finally 10 on the last set very exhausted by the end. And finally the cool down system was good the yin yang push/pull with the towel was a good way to end it... And of course just a way to get back into it I also did this all after going to the climbing gym for 2hrs lol feast or famine lol i guess thats the best way to work out right....;)

Well I apologize for not blogging for the last week hope I can be forgiven?....

John - Day Fifty Five Thru Sixty Three

Yo - Not sure how long my internet will work so going to keep this brief... Back on day 55 thru 57 kept up with the workouts but have been not able to do it since till tonight. Not going to make much of an excuse just needed the time off and was working 70+ hrs this last weeks getting a major project out - (Sent yesterday) - So that it... But back with a vengeance now.

Thursday, April 5, 2012

Matt - Day 59

Shoulders + Arms

Solid workout.  Up a few reps here and there.  And another great Ab Ripper session. Almost done with phase two!

Where you at Kang?

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

Matt - Day 58

Plyocide in the morning is a great way to start the day!

Last plyocide workout!  I'm so sad to see it go.... :-)  I took it a little easy since it was so early. dropped a few reps here and there but no breaks.

pics in 2 days!

Matt - Day 57

switched my day off.  did 1 hour of foam rolling.  I haven't been doing quite as much of this so had a few hot spots to work out.

Monday, April 2, 2012

Matt - Day 56

Chest + Back + Balance

First day of the last week of phase 2!  I pushed it today and was happily rewarded!  Did 15x 4-med ball push-ups with no break!  I couldn't do one four weeks ago!  I also did 12x plyo med ball push-ups without modifying - another first.   I still struggle on the swimmers but its getting better.  I also did 7x on chattarocker, which is really hard for me.  I can't quite figure out why cuz it doesn't seem as crazy as the medball pushups but something about the movement gets me.

I also finished the ab ripper at near perfection.  I had a few kinks in the armor but I'm so close...

so no posting for a while eh??  sounds fishy!

Oh - I'm probably going to do yoga only the first half of next week before starting the final phase.  I need a short rest and we'll be on vacation.

Matt - Day 55

Rest day.  Went out the eat and ate too much! Not the best way to get the six pack!

Saturday, March 31, 2012

Matt - Day 54

Base + Back.

Another good workout. I did 8-10 legitimate reps on all the pull-up moves in the first round.  It dropped a bit in the second but only a few (v-pull ups for one).  This ended up being 4 days straight of workouts because I moved plyocide earlier this week.  Rest day on sat is gonna be gooood.

So this is last week on this phase coming up!  Crazy eh?

So tough mudder this summer?  I think we should pair it with a climbing trip to yosemite -  maybe half dome???

Friday, March 30, 2012

John - Day Fifty Four

Yoga - Well since the whole week is pretty messed up LOL just felt like after this long day and week that a good yoga workout is what I needed... We'll see if doing the Shoulder then Base on the weekend works out ok.

In answer to you question everything is going ok - I will send separate email for full description...  And I agree we should put the reps on the final "Performance round".

John - Day Fifty-Three

Well - I told you this week was't going to be normal...LOL got the chance to go to a NHL game in an executive suite - wasn't going to turn that down even thought it was last minute notice. Had a great time - the home-team won. Go Devils - luckily they weren't playing the wild - Tampa Bay (there should be no teams from Florida anyways ;)

So no more rest days this week...

John - Day Fifty-Two

Plyoside - Same last week - still just as sweaty ;) Not much else to say...

Matt - Day 53

Yoga. Easymode.

I'm getting better on the standing 1 leg positions. And frog is opening up too.

Kang - you're turning into me on the posting!! How's it going?  We kinda skipped the reps for this phase but I think we should go back to original plan for last phase and start tracking on here.  what do you think?

Thursday, March 29, 2012

Matt - Day 52

Shoulders + Arms.  excellent workout.  Bumped up a few reps on most.  The highlight was 10x on the 6 direction flys using 12lb dumbbells. I also did 85% of the ab workout at max.  I stumbled on the phelon a bit and on tornado but everything else was great.

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Matt - Day 51

Plyocide.  Had a bit of an off night.  I didn't push myself as hard as I have in the past.  I didn't take any breaks but dropped a few reps here and there.  Let's just agree that my legs were sore from the hike the previous day :-)

Can you believe we are on day 51 of this thing?  And still have 39 days to go!!

Looking forward to a good workout tomorrow.

Matt - Day 50

switched my rest day too - partially because we did a 3 mile hike up Cowles Mountain.  I can tell you that was a really easy hike after all our workouts.

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

John - Day 51

X2 Chest + Back + Balance - Well this is not the normal day but it was still good. Not as much improvement as you I think but still had a bit of increase over the whole workout and LOVE that I can now do double digits push-ups on the four balls - Glad we both got those ;)...

The X2 ab ripper - This was about the same as last week - not much change hard and sweaty as usual :)

John - Day Fifty

Well this week is going to be out of order - After getting up early for an early meeting just outside of NY and a 12hr work day - I didn't do a workout last night - so it was a re-shuffled rest day... at least thats the way I'm going to look at it.

Monday, March 26, 2012

John - Day Forty-Nine

This was also a rest day for me - so not much to say about it besides that I went into work on the weekend which sucks! Lol

John Day - Forty Eight

Base & Back + X2 Ripper - First yeah I a bit behind on posting... my bad :) - This was a good workout killer as usually added to each of the pull ups but still only about 1/2 to the "recommended" amounts. I will get it by the end of the 5 weeks for this phase though! - So this is a few days later so don't remember much more lol d'oh

Matt - Day 49

Chest + Back + Balance

I'm finally hitting my stride with this one.  Increases across the board.  Most notable was 15x of the 4 med ball push ups!!!!!  (10 then a break and 5 more).  I was super stoked about that.  Its funny but I think the ab ripper workouts is what allows you to get this move more than upper body.   I also did 6-8x real pull-up on almost every move -- except lever which I only did 4 plus some modified.

Ab Ripper was almost perfect today.  I still go a little fast on tornado but I can't help it.  The big one was making it through the Phelon twist - pure pain!

ok - finally caught up on posts.  where you at kang?

Matt - Day 48

Rest day.  Had an event to go to so skipped the foam rolling - will have to make up for that.

Matt - Day 47

Base + Back

Good workout.  Moved up in reps on most of the pull-up moves. I can definitely see this helping out my climbing as soon as I get the hand strength back.

Saturday, March 24, 2012

John - Day Forty-Seven

Yoga - Was a bit exhausing but only because I was at the climbing gym for a few hours before this workout... I think next week I'll get up early and do it in the morning its not as good after the gym...Although did feel pretty stretched out before hand.

BTW this has definitely changed my climbing - don't know if its better or worse its just different. Haven't been going as much - about one a week on average - so not improving levels but the "hard" moves have changed. I can "muscle" through a lot more then was able before - but at the same time the sense of my center of balance has moved - higher?...

Sorry for the day late review but after all the exercise just wanted bed - ok time to do todays...

Matt - Day 46

Yoga.  No problem.

I pushed a little harder today really trying to sync with the breath - felt like a better workout that way.  Saw some improvement on frog and getting real good at crane. Still not clean on the standing balance moves - they are so hard!!

You are thinking of the Phelon Twists.  And yeah - those are hard to maintain.

John - Day Forty-Six

Shoulders and Arms - Yeah increased the standard weight to 20 LBs here for most the reps. Just have the one set of dumbbells that have to take the weights of to change the amounts. Thought I might just keep changing it between each move to get exactly the right weights but after the 2x time of chaining them out just left it all at the 20 lbs - yeah causes some to be kinda light and others to be very hard but I think overall its just about right maybe a bit light still... Think I will go for 20 again next week then maybe 25 the next time depending on how it goes but it felt good at this level this time...

Yeah also getting further on the ab ripper as well the one I'm having the hardest to get through "clean" is the leaning back flexing one...can't remember the name - I always have to disengage - I will eventually get it though!!!

John - Day Forty-Five

X2 - Rest day - Ok didn't really rest started the running for the "next phase" of my exercise - the Marathon (again ;) ) - Was a good 5K nothing special felt good to run again and with the weather being so nice was a good time. Didn't push the time so the pace was pretty relaxed.

Matt - Day 45

Halfway there!!

Shoulders + Arms.  I'm starting to like this workout.  I increased across the board today.  Did crazy 8s with 20s on all three sets.  I was hurting at the end but made it through.  I definitely need some bigger weights for the Arnold press and balance curls but I can still get a burn by increasing the reps.

Really pushed on the Abs.  I still have some areas to improve (Tornado) but I'm getting closer to doing everything clean.

Matt - Day 44

1 hour of foam rolling.  I found some new spots - upper quad -  that made me want to cry.

About 2 weeks ago Annie convinced me that I had to buckle down on the diet in order to get the advertised six-pack. So I've been working on that and I'm starting to see a little more definition.  For half-way through I'm happy but can't wait to see the final result.

Also - I'm not sure what I'm gonna do after this.  I was thinking of a few options.  1) - go back and do p90x  2) try out "Insanity" or 3) some combo of these plus more cardio so I can dominate you at the tough mudder.

John - Day Forty-Four

Plyoside - Whew - Yeah also went good this week - but damn I swear i keep increasing on the amount of sweat each week, lol. I guess thats a good thing?... You have to admit though by now the "think" moves you pretty much know what he's going to do ... ok two more jumps then were done...lol

Now wait a second - "not going to miss this when were done"... you only doing one round? ;) Hehe.
Can you believe that were almost 1/2 way done! Damn - Well I know at least I look that its half way done...can't say about you...

Matt - Day 43

Plyo-life!   Good workout. After wimping out last week I was able to make it all the way through with no breaks.  Used the 10lb med ball on the wide leg jump squats again. I definitely won't miss one when we're done but its an amazing workout.

John - Day Forty-Three

Chest + Back + Balance - Yeah also did better this week. Not up the the "full" levels but getting closer.  Couldn't get the 4 balls balance yet this week but did a dozen against the wall. - I WILL get this next week! Also the impossible/possible is becoming more possible can do six reps but just barely - won't say it looks the best either lol... The last set of moves is still hard as well can only do very few towel pull ups at the end. I definitely want a 5th time to get a full set all the through...

And sweaty mess after the ab ripper as usual but that as usual and nothing wrong with that :)

John - Day Forty-Two

Rest day - Yeah not much else to say - beside that it was a nice day seems like its finally started to be spring here.

Oh yeah and I totally agree with doing 5 weeks of this. Then might be able to do the full set of moves... gonna try my best at least

Sunday, March 18, 2012

Matt - Day 42

chest + back + balance  good workout today.  saw some decent improvement across the board - think I'm finally getting the hang of this one.  highlight was 2x real 4 med ball push-ups.  I was going for the 3rd and rolled off the feet.  I finished with like 6x more with the feet on the wall.  I also managed a few of the swimmers and plyo push-ups which I previously had to modify all on.

so this is start of 3rd week on this one - I think we should go 5 weeks total as there is still a lot of improvement to be made. then kick-off the final round!

Matt - Day 41

1 hour of foam rolling.  I feel like everything is getting better except my right calf and quad.  Might be time for the rumble roller!

Matt - Day 40

Yikes.. I'm real late on this one.  Base + Back.

Yeah - this one is HARD.  It's the two biggest muscle systems and I definitely feel it.  Still not getting the reps I want on the pull-up moves.  I was in the 6 range for most and then modified to get to 10.   The no kip moves are probably what makes this so killer.  I realized that I was always doing fuglys in the past.   The plyo part of this was almost painful.  I think I was a little de-hydrated -  I was almost dizzy at the end but made it through.

Ab Ripper - man I was not happy to have this at the end! I agree though - getting better every time on this.

Saturday, March 17, 2012

John - Day Forty-One

Base + Back & Ab Ripper - Just as hard as it was last week... I don't think I'll be up to the "recommended" number of reps till the last week but had good improvements from last week - in addition to raising the number or reps I felt like I'm not having to "cheat" on them as much as well... Keeping the pump going afterwards like last week as well.

Yeah we should have 10-pacs by the end of this with all the ab ripper - so hard but so good. Also getting better and not having to rest or un-engage as much. I actually have some left for the tornados at the end so is improving.  Although I do admit my legs are not very straight but thats more of a flexibility item then a ab item...i think...

Now to go have a Guinness to Celebrate ;)

John - Day Fourty

X2 - Yoga This was a good way fully back into the workouts. It went really well don't know if its from not doing the other workout the day before, but it was a really good yoga session.  Yeah the moons, splits, and crunch move was still killer. But the second time into the crane move I was able to stay in it for most of the move! Yeah :) Have only been able to fall in and out of it before... I think the frog and pigeon are getting better but its very slow change.  Still say this is a big upper body workout if you do all the pushups into downward dog for the first 3/4.

I have to see what the airplane ticket prices would look like before can give you an answer on tough mudder.. I'll look this weekend and see where they are...

John - Day Thirty-Nine

:( - I am the first one to miss a workout :' ( I was not feeling good at all yesterday. I think some of the food from one of the diner events (had one wed night too) really dis-agreed with me. I barely made it through work - only drank gatorade during the day - just thinking of anything else made me feel nauseous. Then when I got home fell right to bed (5:45..) and didn't wake up till 10 then had some chicken soup and slept till work on friday. Feeling better today will try the yoga - might flip the script and do this missed routine on sunday instead of resting...ughh what a week...

Matt - Day 39

Yoga

Good workout (last night)  - I pushed a little harder than usual and it felt great. I tried to keep going on the 1-leg poses but I still had to take a break. My long legs are a huge disadvantage on this one!  I'll get there though.
"Ohmmmmmmmmm"

Kang didn't post.....   you aren't slacking are you!  I'm the only one who gets to post a day late!

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Matt - Day 38

Arms + Shoulders

So I actually enjoyed this workout more than last week.  I think I made better choices with the weights and I pushed harder because I knew what was coming.  Highlight was using 20s on the crazy eights for the first two rounds - could barely lift arm on the last few.  I also like the 6 direction shoulder move.

Ab Ripper is getting a little better too.  I was able to get a little more out of each of the moves.  Just waiting for that 6-pack now!  I've also modified my diet a bit to include a little more "natural" food and less processed stuff.  I'm hoping that will make a difference over the next month.

So - tough mudder??  July?  You in?

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

John Day Thirty-Eight

Plyoside - Yeah have to agree this one has the habit of keep on being an intense workout but I love the sweat all the time for these workouts... Although doing the slalom moves remind me that there has been no snow this winter :( Never used those moves on any mountain this year ;)

So I guess I'll see if moving the workouts around a bit does anything different - ;) probably not able to move by the end of the week or something...

John - Day Thirty-Seven

Well I had to change the day around so this became a day of rest - though actually was a long evening diner listing to a couple of seminars... Thing I would have rather done the workout but you have to adjust some times..

Matt - Day 37

Did about 40 mins of foam rolling.  I hadn't done that much in a while - felt great.

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Matt - Day 36

Plyocide.  I don't know what it is, but this was harder again this week.  I had to rest a few times though I pushed pretty hard on each of the individual moves. I was happy with the 12x on frog burpees.  Also used the 10lb med ball again which destroys on the wide leg med ball jumps.

I'm still a day ahead on workout....and a day behind on blogging :-)

Monday, March 12, 2012

John - Day Thirty-Six

Chest + Back + Balance & X2 Ab Ripper - Ahhh Still like this workout its extremely difficult but is such a good set.  I didn't get a whole lot of more reps but I felt like I was actually doing the moves better - the possible impossible is still not happening but fun to try. And for the four ball push-ups those back balls are eventually going to come off the wall!

X2 Ab Ripper - Uggh not having to adjust as much but is still killer can't keep many of the moves engaged for the whole time but improvement. Actually had a fair amount left till the "tornado" move this time.

So are you on the same day as me now? Or was this mornings post for Sunday?

John - Day Thirty-Five

Needed a day of rest here as well - So just relaxed on Sunday - and it felt good! :) Need that every once and awhile...

Matt - Day 35

Chest + Back +Balance

Better workout than last week but I'm still not happy with the low reps on many of the pull-up moves.  I modified a lot to push harder but its just not the same.  I did better on a lot of the chest moves but not even close on the single ball moves.  I also couldn't get the swimmers push up balance move.  Just gotta keep pushing.

I had a pretty unhealthy lunch today and I think it was dragging down my workout.  Stupid food!  Apparently it matters what you eat!

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Matt - Day 34

Chilled today.  I needed a full day of rest. Sore from yesterday and got home really late.  Back to business tomorrow!

Matt - Day 33

base and back.  I like this one.  I had to workout in morning again because I went to LA for work.  I had similar experience to you.  not very many reps after first few moves.  I think I would do better in evening so we'll see what its like next time.

yes - I will get numbers up soon just been real busyl

John - Day Thirty-Four

X2 - Base + Back & Ab Ripper - Ah thats more like it... Ok it was the same routine 2x but much more of an X2 workout! - That is to say completely impossible the same time... try to do a dozen pull ups multiple times and just with different grips...yeah right...LOL.. Well maybe in 4 weeks! Watch out! This time though I did my best which was very few pull ups after the first few moves...Can't wait to just pound dozens out...

And yes again went through the ab ripper I now know why everyone comes out of this workout system with 6 pacs - how could you not...

So are we putting the numbers in file or...?? I did my best but not every big reps. Will enjoy the rest tomorrow getting the pump in the arms again I think...

So how has your workouts been going....?

John - Day Thirty-Three

Opps - Never got back to posting last night. Yeah yoga went pretty well - its tough but a good stretch as well. Did go rock climbing at the gym afterwards and it did help with the flexibility but not with the endurance - lol.

The workout later today should be good...

Thursday, March 8, 2012

Matt - Day 32

X2 Yoga - nothing major to report.  Was a little better on keeping the balance poses going but still had to take a break.  I'm looking forward to a good workout tomorrow - hopefully its a beast to make up for the shoulders + arms workout.  I think I'm just going to push a lot harder on that one next time.  I need some 25s or 30s to make it work though.

John - Day Thirty-Two

X2 Shoulders + Arms & Ab Ripper - Well it went ok but yeah I'd have to agree that it's not the best work out being pretty bland. The moves were ok...but nothing that challenging - The hardest thing I could see is if I wanted to keep chaining the weight of my dumbbells for each of the moves (kept it mostly at 15).  But I am feeling it a bit in my arms but yeah not the best.

The Ab ripper was a killer tonight - went out to lunch with my boss at a NJ "Dinner" he wanted to go too...which is fine but ugggh it was sooo greasy... I'm still feeling it an my abs were not liking to do a workout on top of it had to do slower reps and alter the moves more then I've had to before. I got through it but just... Lol

John - Day Thirty-One

Mostly a rest day not much else to say - did a half hour of rolling on the arms and shoulders to work those spots out.

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

Matt - Day 31

Shoulders + Arms & X2 Ab Ripper.  Boom!  Guess who did his workout in the morning today.  I have a dinner tonight but can't miss a day so did the AM workout.  I gotta say this one is a little boring - but it is pretty quick.  You do the same cycle 3 times.  Since it was early I actually went up on each cycle in reps and weight as I loosened up.  It is still a great workout and get you pumped but I think I need bigger weights to get the full value.

I still haven't made those table to track the reps online. Maybe tonight.

Matt - Day 30

Rest day.  Ended up going climbing for about an hour and a short jog with Molly.  I foam rolled the night before for 40 mins so took a break on this.  Still sore from Chest/Back today.

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

John - Day 30 Photos

John - Day 30

Plyoside - Always soo sweaty. I have to say this is the first time I am glad that the plysoside is sooo leg heavy I am still recovering from yesterday...still have a bit of a pump I think..lol. I will admit I did spend the whole foam roller time on the arms and back -- felt so good might so some more after the post and pics... Well I have to go set that up and take the pics will post soon...

30 day Pics

Matt - Day 29

Plyocide.  I had a tough workout today.  I woke up pretty sore from yesterday and it was really hot today that's the only thing I have to blame it on.  It was overall most of the same numbers as last week but I took a few breaks and dropped a couple reps on a few exercises.  One positive was 12x on the frog  burpees - and 22x @10lbs - both PBs

I will add the numbers tomorrow - I'm trying to put everything into table form so we can just type in the numbers and go.

John Day - Twenty-Nine

Chest + Back + Balance & X2 Ab Ripper - OMG!!! This is tough... so many push ups, so many chin ups, so many pulls ups... so much sweat... LOL but I love it. Had to watch how each move was done before starting myself and yes did try the pushups on the four balls w/o wall also didn't work so backed up against a wall as well and still was very difficult. I was sooooo pumped and had nothing left in my arms by the end. I have a lot of improvement to make on most of the moves but I got at least one rep on them (or at least a good attempt ;) ) - Yeah and then ad the Ab ripper at the end - so killer!

Added the supplements at the end as well...See if that helps it can't hurt..going to need some help in recovering from that - going to be so sweet to kick-a$$ at the end of this phase on these moves!

Ok so we said we would here was my workout...I did my best ;)

1.8 2.16 3.6 4.15 5.2(7attempts) 6.10(against wall) 7. a4 b4 8.2+2 9.4 10.8 11.8 12.8 13.4 14.15 and yeah..15. a1 b2 c1 d1 16.12 17.2 18.7 19.1 20.7(no ball)

There ya go. Picture updates and overall stats tomorrow...

Sunday, March 4, 2012

John - Day Twenty-Eight

Also, not much existing also went rock climbing then came back and foam rolled with the tape which I think is just about 40 mins of actually rolling.

Kinda excited and now a little scared to do the next round.

Lol  - I will let you know about the supplement. It is suppose to be just whey and protein so it might be a better thing for what you were looking for too - Just curious how many calories per serving with yours?

Can't wait till tomorrow! And yeah if you want we can start putting down the numbers for the ones where your right it down. Was thinking we could do a shortcut way like 1.12  2.10-10# 3.L-8,R-8 extra...

Matt - Day 28

Chest Back & Balance AND X2 Ab Ripper - Phase 2 Strength Begins!

Damn.  So this phase brings back all the pain. I had to modify/cheat on a good chunk of the moves.  You do so many pull-ups that by the end I was doing 3-4 good ones and then modifying.  The highlight is the 4 med ball push-up!  I did 4! Haha! And that was after I placed the feet up against the wall.  I just kept falling until I did that.  I think I will get it by the end - as with most of the moves.

What did we say were the reporting rules for this phase?  Are we reporting numbers now?  I can add if so.

We are definitely going to be bulking up with this phase. Arms are so pumped by the end!   And did you see that we have Ab Ripper X 3 days a week now!  Bring it on!

Matt - Day 27

Went climbing and did about 20 mins of foam rolling.  Nothing too exciting.

You'll have to let me know what you think of the supplement you got.  Mine makes me a little crazy with all the vitamins.

Saturday, March 3, 2012

John - Day Twenty-Seven

X2 Core + Power - Improved for the last full workout for the foundation. Increased in the weighted moves by 5 lbs. Still no Loiasana maybe next time going through the phase.  It seemed a little faster then usual tonight but it was good - maybe because it was with doing the full sets of all the moves...Tomorrow rest and then the next phase!

Yeah, did see your pic an responded with my own ;) Great minds think alike & shop at the same store - lol. You didn't think I was going to let you do something and not do it my self did you? Those super burpees at the end are still killer.

Friday, March 2, 2012

John - Day Twenty-Six

Enjoyed the Journey tonight  (X2 Yoga) Although its not one of the toughest workouts I still got a good one out of the workout tonight and felt good and was able to keep the flow going better tonight and didn't have the apathy had last night although I think that was more of other stuff then the workouts...

No I did not see the pic yet but I'll go and look now and update the blog.. Speaking of that in the mean time when do we take the pics on the actual 30th day or now that we've completed (or almost ;) ) the  foundation?

Matt - Day 26

Power & Balance.  That's it - the last workout day of my foundation.  Resting day tomorrow and then kicking it off on Sunday.

Nothing crazy to report today.  Was a lot easier than last week.  I improved again on the crawly crab.  Still can't do the full lolasima. Sooo hard!

Did you get the pic I sent?  Bring on the supplements for phase 2.  Time to step it up!

Thursday, March 1, 2012

Matt - Day 25

Yoga. Decent workout.  Only notable change is I can do crane the entire time now.  I still have to take lots of breaks on the 1 leg balance moves.  Hopefully by the end I will be able to hang.  And of course, frog is still the worst.

And I am definitely ready to move to the next phase :-)

John - Day Twenty-Five

Total Body and Ab Ripper - All I can say is do not change your routine in when your doing the workouts. Tonight although I had improvement from last week increasing 5-lbs on the weighted moves and kept or increased the amount of reps I felt apathetic about it most of the workout about it - no push... Had a long day out of the office visiting a manufacturer with small catered lunch so was starved when I go home (about an hr later then usual because of items I had to catch up with when I got back to the office)  so I ate before doing the workout - waited an hour then started it...Just did not feel the same...maybe I need the genuine physical hunger as well to feel and do the workout better?  Maybe I'm also ready for the next phase for some change...even if you'd like another foundation week ;)

It was an improvement but just didn't feel quite the same...
